Interregional scientific-practical conference for healthcare professionals

On December 11, 2024, Interregional scientific-practical conference for healthcare professionals “Osteoporosis - interdisciplinary problem: topical issues” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Yaroslavl State Medical University (YSMU) of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation was held.

 

  The reports were made by the staff of the university within the framework of the conference. Among the speakers were Ershova Olga, Dr of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Therapy named after Prof. E.N. Dormidontov of the Institute of Continuing Postgraduate Education of YSMU, Vice-President of the Russian Association on Osteoporosis. Belova Ksenia, Dr.of Medicaal Sciences, Head of the Department of Public Health and Public Health Care of YSMU, Vice-President of the Russian Association on Osteoporosis, Tikhonov Pavel, Chief geriatrician of the Yaroslavl region

 

   A wide range of issues were touched upon in the reports of the speakers Among them: peculiarities of diagnostics, treatment and follow-up of patients with systemic osteoporosis against the background of comorbid pathology.

modern clinical recommendations on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis and vitamin D deficiency.

The problem of duration of therapy for systemic osteoporosis and the concept of temporary drug withdrawal.

 Actual schemes of timely diagnosis, choice of treatment tactics and further follow-up of patients with hyperparathyroidism were analyzed.

 The topic of modern approaches to the management of patients with osteoarthritis, an extremely common disease in the elderly, affecting the quality of life and increasing the risk of falls, was touched upon.

The information about the current state of the system of medical care for elderly patients in the Yaroslavl region was presented and the prospects for further improvement of geriatric service and development of gerontological care were discussed.

 

The conference was attended by therapists, rheumatologists, endocrinologists, geriatricians from Yaroslavl, Kostroma and some other regions. Resident doctors of YSMU were also present at the conference.

The participants were able to ask all the questions they were interested in, discuss the topics of concern in the current management of patients and share their experience in working with comorbid patients.
