This event is organized by the Orthopaedic and Traumatology Department, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, National University of Malaysia in conjunction to the World Osteoporosis Day and World Osteoarthritis Day 2023. It lasts for a week, starting from 14 until 22nd October 2023.
The objective of this event is to create awareness and act as an education platform for those who are affected with Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis, as well as healthcare professionals in order to improve the management of these diseases. Furthermore, this event is to create an understanding on the implementation of Fracture Liaison Service as a secondary fracture prevention among healthcare professionals. The organizer of this event involves a multidisciplinary healthcare team consisting of medical, nursing, pharmacy and allied health. The activities that will be conducted include online educational webinars, and forums on Osteoporosis for the public and healthcare professionals. The highlight would be the launching of the event by a prominent figure of the organization.
In addition, there will be a walkathon for the public to promote physical activity for bone health, and support initiatives to prevent and manage Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis.
