SGH World Osteoporosis Day 2025 in Kuching

KUCHING (Oct 7): Bone disease or osteoporosis can be life-threatening, particularly among the elderly, said Deputy Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

According to him, the prevalence of osteoporosis in Malaysia is almost on par with other chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.

“If one in six Malaysians has diabetes, and one in five has high blood pressure, then the rate of osteoporosis is about the same, roughly one in four to five people,” he said when speaking at the Sarawak General Hospital World Osteoporosis Day 2025 event themed ‘It’s Unacceptable’ at the DCC Courtyard, Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), earlier today.
