On 20.10.2022 an Open Doors event was held in the Yaroslavl Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis Center within the framework of World Osteoporosis Day.
This day was established by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) and in Russia this action has been carried out since 2011 by the Russian Patient Osteoporosis Society "Osteorus" under the Russian Association on Osteoporosis (RAOP). “STEP UP for BONE HEALTH " is the motto of this year's event.
The event was held at the Regional Treatment and Diagnostics Center on Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis, in the “Yaroslavl Clinical Hospital of Emergency Healthcare named after N.V.Solovyov”
The event was attended by members of the regional women's union, veteran teachers' and journalists' organizations, members of the public and the media. They were consulted by doctors, examined on a densitometer, listened to a lecture on the importance of keeping healthy lifestyle and about the risks of the disease development. The lecture was delivered by Ksenia Belova, MD PhD.
The participants took part in a Nordic walking workshop delivered by Elena Leonchuk, the head of Nordic-Yar public organization, and tasted the dairy products (the affordable source of calcium) provided by “Yarmolprod”. There was a presentation of the book "Learning All Your Life and Doing Good Things!" and signing of “IOF Global Patient Charter" aimed at attracting public attention (patients, doctors, authorities and businesses) to the problem of early prevention, timely diagnostics and treatment of osteoporosis. People are living longer and therefore the problem of active and healthy longevity has come to the foreground, and with it the prevention of complications caused by osteoporosis. Prevention of the disease is based on simple rules for healthy bones - physical activity, sufficient consumption of foods rich in calcium and vitamin D.
Yaroslavl Regional Duma deputy Olga Khitrova and Natalia Danilenko, director of the Solovyov Clinical Emergency Hospital, also took part in the event.
