“Osteorus” and New Osteoporosis Prevention Platforms.
As part of the educational events dedicated to World Osteoporosis Day of the All-Russian Osteoporosis Society, “Osteorus”, a lecture on disease prevention was held in one of the restaurants in Yaroslavl.
“Osteorus” volunteers are expanding their audience and exploring new formats and platforms for this purpose following the recommendations of the International Osteoporosis Foundation. WOD-2025 is held under the motto "Stop the Neglect of Bone Health. This Is Unacceptable" and emphasizes awareness of the risk factors for the disease.
On November 5, 2025, a lecture was held for the participants of the community "Breakfast with Meaning," which meets at the Déjà Vu restaurant. This is the second time that educational information on osteoporosis prevention has been presented in the setting of this restaurant. On Wednesday mornings, activist Tatyana Malysheva brings together a community of similar interests. This time, Dr. Valentina Dzhalatova (Department of Public Health and Healthcare at the Yaroslavl State Medical University , member of RAOP) delivered the lecture. The intimate format suits the atmosphere of a heart-to-heart conversation about the most important thing – health.
Attendees were able to ask specific questions on the topic. The speaker spoke in detail about prevention, the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis, “Osteorus” events, the need to prevent recurrent fractures, self-testing for osteoporosis risk using the FRAX system and other topics.
A special attention was given to developing a healthy diet, including bone-healthy eating habits. Participants discussed nutrition in detail, including foods containing calcium and vitamin D. Participants immediately ordered a healthy breakfast, which can also be made at home: cottage cheese pancakes.
“Osteorus” continues to expand its educational platforms for osteoporosis prevention. Regarding food outlets, the organization's volunteers offer helpful advice: indicate the calcium content of prepared dishes so people can calculate its benefits for maintaining strong bones. This information can be included on the menu.
