World Osteoporosis Day 2025 in Indonesia
PEROSI and Anlene Inspire Thousands to Take 10,000 Steps for Stronger Bones
In celebration of World Osteoporosis Day (WOD) 2025, the Indonesian Osteoporosis Society (PEROSI) led a vibrant national campaign under the global theme “It’s Time to Act: The Ongoing Crisis in Osteoporosis Prevention and Care.” The series of events, conducted across three major cities—Medan, Jakarta, and Surabaya— brought together thousands of participants to promote bone health awareness, early detection, and active living as key strategies to prevent osteoporosis.
The highlight of the celebration was the “Osteowalk 10,000 Steps & Osteorun 5K”, held on 16 November 2025 at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, in collaboration with PT Fonterra Brands Indonesia (Anlene) and supported by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF). Similar events were held in Medan on 19 October 2025 at Lapangan Benteng, and in Surabaya on 30 November 2025 at Plaza Surabaya. These community-based activities encouraged Indonesians of all ages to embrace movement as medicine for the bones.
The events combined public education, free osteoporosis screening, and outdoor fitness activities in an engaging and family-friendly format. Health experts, including Dr. Aswin, Dr. Elfina, Dr. Monica, and Dr. Clements, delivered talks on bone health, nutrition, and lifestyle, emphasizing the importance of calcium and vitamin D intake, regular exercise, and fall prevention.
The Osteowalk and Osteorun events also featured a lively wellness festival, complete with mass warm-up exercises, music, and educational booths. Participants received exclusive race packs containing a green Osteowalk jersey, bib number, medal, and drawstring bag—symbolizing their commitment to staying #AktifTanpaBatas (“Active Without Limits”). The joyful and inclusive atmosphere demonstrated how awareness campaigns can unite people of all backgrounds in a shared mission to fight osteoporosis through movement and education.
To make the event even more memorable, participants were eligible for exciting door prizes, including smartwatches, shopping vouchers, 32-inch TVs, and even an electric motorbike, courtesy of Anlene and supporting sponsors. The mix of education, entertainment, and empowerment created a lasting impact among attendees, encouraging them to carry the spirit of bone health advocacy back into their communities.
Approximately 5,000 participants joined the events nationwide, making this one of the largest osteoporosis awareness campaigns in Indonesia to date. National newspapers, lifestyle magazines, and social media influencers helped amplify the campaign’s message, reaching thousands more online. The collaboration between PEROSI and Anlene exemplified how partnerships between professional organizations, private industry, and the public can effectively promote preventive health messages.
The central message of the campaign—
“Saatnya Bertindak: Krisis yang Ada Terkait Pencegahan dan Perawatan Osteoporosis”
(It’s Time to Act: The Ongoing Crisis in Osteoporosis Prevention and Care)—
served as both a call to awareness and a call to action. It reminded Indonesians that osteoporosis is not an inevitable part of aging but a preventable condition when addressed early through nutrition, screening, and lifestyle.
By blending fun, fitness, and education, the World Osteoporosis Day 2025 campaign successfully transformed public spaces into platforms for learning and action. The initiative reaffirmed PEROSI’s commitment to the IOF vision of “Working together for a world without fragility fractures.”
Building on this success, PEROSI aims to expand its outreach in the coming years, strengthening partnerships with local communities, healthcare providers, and sponsors to continue spreading the message of strong bones and active living throughout Indonesia.
