On October 9, 2025, at the initiative of the Regional Health Inspectorate - Razgrad, together with the Association "Women without Osteoporosis", a screening campaign for measuring bone density was held. The activity is part of the celebration of the International Day for the Fight against Osteoporosis - October 20.
The motto of this year's campaign is: "Fractures are Preventable: Don't Ignore Osteoporosis, Know Your Personal Risk". This is the second joint initiative of the RHI and the Association for 2025, following the "Osteoporosis in the Workplace" campaign held in April, during which over 60 employees from the municipal and regional administration in Razgrad were examined.
Within the framework of this campaign, participants had the opportunity to complete tests to determine their personal risk of osteoporosis and to learn about lifestyle factors that contribute to maintaining bone health. The President of the Association - Aya Lilova, presented basic guidelines related to diet, physical activity and vitamin D intake. All participants were provided with information materials.
The study included 90 women, with the results showing:
19 with normal bone density;
60 with osteopenia (reduced bone density);
9 with diagnosed changes characteristic of osteoporosis.
Individuals with deviations from the norm were provided with instructions for subsequent consultation with a personal physician and specialists for additional diagnosis and treatment.
Screening campaigns for measuring bone density contribute to raising awareness and early prevention of osteoporosis, which is essential for limiting the risk of fractures and complications related to bone health.
