1st Fragility Fracture Network (FFN) Indonesia Scientific Meeting

As part of the national celebration of World Osteoporosis Day (WOD), the Indonesian Osteoporosis Society (PEROSI) organized the 1st Fragility Fracture Network (FFN) Indonesia Scientific Meeting, held on Sunday, 14 September 2025, from 08.00 to 13.00 local time at Hotel Kimaya Slipi Jakarta by Harris, Jakarta.

This important event marked a new milestone in Indonesia’s ongoing effort to strengthen the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of fragility fractures. The Fragility Fracture Network (FFN) is a recognized international organization committed to improving multidisciplinary care for patients with fragility fractures—those resulting from low-energy trauma, most commonly due to osteoporosis.

The 1st FFN Indonesia Scientific Meeting served as a platform to unite clinicians, radiologists, orthopedic surgeons, rehabilitation physicians, geriatric specialists, and public health professionals under one shared mission: to reduce the burden of fragility fractures and improve the quality of life for osteoporosis patients across Indonesia.

PB. PEROSI is pleased to officially announce the establishment of FFN Indonesia, under the leadership of Prof. Zairin, and the formation of the Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Working Group within PB. PEROSI, chaired by Dr. Andra. This strategic collaboration between FFN Indonesia, FLS PB. PEROSI, and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia is designed to accelerate the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis throughout the nation.

The initiative aims to reduce the incidence of recurrent fractures by up to 30%, in line with international guidelines and peer-reviewed evidence. Moreover, both FFN and FLS emphasize not only osteoporosis treatment but also fall prevention, rehabilitation, and public education, ensuring a comprehensive approach to fragility fracture prevention and patient care.

Participants in the meeting received Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits endorsed by the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

This event represents an important milestone in integrating Indonesia into the Global Fragility Fracture Network (FFN) and reflects PEROSI’s commitment to advancing the shared vision of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) — “working together for a world without fragility fractures.”

Through this initiative, PEROSI reaffirms its dedication to global collaboration, evidence-based practice, and community engagement in osteoporosis awareness, diagnosis, and management, celebrating World Osteoporosis Day 2025 with tangible, sustainable action for patient-centered bone health in Indonesia.
