St. Petersburg traditionally celebrated World Osteoporosis Day on October 20.
As part of World Osteoporosis Day on October 23, 2025, an agreement on organizing assistance for men with osteoporosis in the Nevsky District of St. Petersburg was signed between the Russian Association on Osteoporosis RAOP), the Administration of the Nevsky District of St. Petersburg, and Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg A.R. Melnikova.
Specialists of the Osteoporosis Center of the V.A. Nasonova Clinical Rheumatology Hospital – Deputy Chief Physician, a rheumatologist, MD, E.N. Gladkova, and E.S. Zhugrova,a rheumatologist, MD from the I.I. Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University –took part in the television programs "Useful Consultation" and "Chief Doctor" on the St. Petersburg TV channel dedicated to World Osteoporosis Day, where they discussed the problem of osteoporosis in details and answered viewers' questions. An article dedicated to World Osteoporosis Day was published in the online publication "Petersburg Diary" on October 20, 2025.
Posters provided by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), as well as informational materials for patients, were displayed at the City Osteoporosis Prevention Center (Head of the Center – Doctor of Medicine, Professor Olga Lesnyak) of the V.A. Nasonova Clinical Rheumatology Hospital (Chief Physician – O.V. Inamova).
On this day, a rheumatologist Alexandra Tsinzerling, MD, conducted a school on osteoporosis for inpatients of the hospital where she provided them with detailed information on this serious disease prevention. All school participants had their fracture risk calculated using the FRAX calculator and were given individual recommendations.
Resident physicians from the Department of Family Medicine at the I.I. Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University assessed fracture risk in all patients seeking outpatient appointments at the Family Medicine Center (Chief Physician – Zh.V. Pleshanova) and at the department's clinical site – City Polyclinic No. 114 (Chief Physician – S.V. Anisimova), with subsequent patient referrals.
The following webinars for physicians are planned:
1. "Diabetes Mellitus and Osteoporosis" – October 31, 2025 – for endocrinologists, rheumatologists, internists, and gynecologists.
The event is dedicated to World Osteoporosis Day and World Diabetes Day.

2. "The Solar Conductor of Health: Focusing Beyond Bone Tissue" - November 6, 2025 - dedicated to World Osteoporosis Day and World Vitamin D Day.

Audience: endocrinologists and general practitioners.
